Capcom unleashed the newest Street Fighter to the Super Street Fighter IV roster. The greasy and enthusiastic Hakan is a Turkish Ya?l? güre? fighter which is apparently the Turkish national sport. In Ya?l? güre?, wrestlers lube up with olive oil and go at it. Like all the Street Fighter styles, Hakan's actual use of Ya?l? güre? is probably fairly inaccurate and wildly exaggerated. And just fucking creepy.

If I had to go on character design alone, I would have thought he was some kind of tengu. A tengu is a yokai, Japanese mythical creatures. There are a bunch of yokai that appear in Japanese folk tales, art, manga, and anime. I'm not really up on my yokai lore, unfortunately, but there's this awesome book entitled Yokai Attack!: The Japanese Monster Survival Guide that might be worth checking out. All I know is that tengu typically have longish noses and the ones I've seen have red skin. So I instantly thought Hakan was a tengu.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Super Street Fighter IV. Loved the first one although I still haven't unlocked Gouken. Oh, and I just got SFIV for the iPhone. It's actually a lot of damn fun. Button mashing is slightly more difficult, but it's a fun way to get aggression out on the commute to and from work.
