For my latest piece for The Nib, I interviewed a bunch of my Asian American friends about their early childhoods and how white standards of pretty much everything have effected their perceptions of self and how they relate to the world around them.
My first draft of this comic was more of an essay and my editor pushed me to get real experiences. I really love this kind of comics journalism and am kind of kicking myself for not doing something like this sooner. One of the many reasons I love working with The Nib is that their editors are able to push me to refine my ideas into something better.
So, did you ever want to be White as a kid?
