This video is probably better for February, but I thought I'd share it a little early. I'm not really familiar with Kina Grannis's work, but she has a right lovely voice and a whole mess of videos on her YouTube page. I love that YouTube has become one of the best ways for new, indy musicians to really make an impact and spread their music without the constraints of the RIAA or a money grubbing record label.

Anyway, the video for her song "Valentine" is absolutely wonderful. It took 760 empty DVD cases for all the images and I don't know how many hours of takes and editing. The resulting video was well worth the effort. Enjoy!

Normally, I can't stand Akon, but this is just too good. Now that I've heard this song it's going to be very difficult not to sing it the next time I have sex. I absolutely love the expressions of Jessica Alba and Blake Lively. "Why the fuck did I let this singing idiot into my bedroom?"

I really can't stand the song in this video, but the sentiment is just so sweet I had to share.

"Virginia is for Lovers" as the state moto says so on December 4, 2010, LGBT Individuals and Allies came together at the Artisphere in Arlington, VA for some holiday hugs and kisses! Such a perfect event for the holidays.

You may recognize Steven Ho as the stunt man who has put Conan O'Brien through his paces. Steven's worked on all sorts of action films with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. But that's all old hat. Steven's setting his sights on comedy and if this segment from his first show is any indication, I think we'll be seeing more from Steven on the standup comedy circuit.

Last Saturday, the LGBT community got a nice stocking stuffer for Xmas, the repeal of the U.S. military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. Under the policy, service men and women who are gay were forced to hide their sexual orientation for fear of discharge from their chosen service. Imagine, a voluntary military force denying loyal citizens the right to fight for our freedoms simply because of who they love. Now that Don't Ask, Don't Tell has been repealed, our fighting men and women no longer have to fear persecution from their own service. As it fucking well should be!

The repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell is essential to protecting the civil rights of homosexuals in America. But it's a stocking stuffer. The real gift that the LGBT community wanted this year and has wanted for decades is the right to marry.

It sickens me to think that there was a time in this country when I would have been prevented from marrying my wife because she's White and I'm Asian. Now, it's no problem. Ethnic minorities have been where the LGBT community has been. But it's worse because by now we aught to know better. We aught to know that discrimination based on things we cannot change about ourselves is the highest crime against humanity. We aught to know better. Minorities aught to know better. Mister President, you fucking well aught to know better. Denying the LGBT community the right to marry is the same as denying Black, Asian, Hispanic, and White people the right to cross marry. It's wrong. Dead. Wrong.

It will take some time for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell to take full effect. My hope is that this will signal a greater change for the LGBT community. If one of the most conservative institutions in our nation doesn't give two shits about who you sleep with, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the country follows suit. I hope, I pray, I expect to see same sex marriage legalized in the next two years. Or sooner.

Fiddler on the Roof is a story about tradition, family, religion, survival. You Got Served is, um, not. But when you put the two together, something magically awesome happens:

Spent some time recording in the studio (aka my living room) with Audrey to finish up the Puppy Cow theme song, "Puppy With a Cow Udder." I'm not terribly skilled at mastering so things may not be perfectly balanced or anything like that, but for all intents and purposes, this is finalized version of the theme. Feel free to download and scare your friends with this little ditty:

"Puppy With a Cow Udder"

I'm working on a little animation that will go along with this little track. I'll have more about that as it goes along, maybe I'll post a rough or something like that so you can see the horrible process of animating.

I always suspected Blanka had some hidden talents. Baking pound cake was the last thing I'd have guessed but it all makes sense. After all, a person who can generate his own current must put that to good use and baking pound cake, well, that's a pretty damn good use.

Unfortunately, now every time I execute Ryu's spinning kick of dizzyness, I'll always hear, "I'd like some POOOUND CAKE!"

Here's a pro tip, never stand next to Dudley when he's ordering chicken nuggets with a Coke to drink or something with some waffle fries.

Finally, here's Ryu as a salary man.

Yes, these are shitting old made a year and a half ago, but this is the first time I've seen them. And they're awesome.

According to the modern Asian American stereotype, we like to listen to the dance music. Whenever you see Asian gangsters on the tele or in movies, they're driving up in some kind of fancy car with some kind of shitty dance track blasting. Now while Asian dance/techno/pop/rap artists are popular in Asia, there aren't a whole lot of Asian American dance/techno/pop/rap artists States side. Which is why Far East Movement is fairly significant. They've carved out a name for themselves in a genre that surprisingly lacks Asian American artists. You may have heard their "Fly Like a G6" on your local Hot whatever station lately (here in DC it's Hot 99.5).

Music videos behind the cut!

A warning, don't listen to the lyrics too closely or you'll want to drill a hole in your head with a rusty drill.

There's another track that they've released a video for that is far less lyrically retarded called "Rocketeer."

While "Like a G6" has earned them mainstream fame, "Rocketeer" has been adopted by Asian American YouTubers as a sort of anthem.

Clara C busts out a jazzy piano version:

Paul Dateh and Dawen mellow things out with a guitar and violin version:

Speaking of violins, Jason Yang's version features him playing a whole mess of instruments:

JRA, Tori Kelly, and AJ Rafael offer up some tasty harmonies with their version:

Eric Sean offers up a charming ukulele rendition:

My favorite is David Choi and friends busting out an accapella version:

And guess what, there are a bajillion more that I haven't linked that are just as tasty and awesome!

You know, it's only a matter of time before I join in with my own version. Hmmm...
