A platform toy is a blank 3D canvas. Artists customize them with paint or clay or whatever else they can find. If you are unfamiliar with platform toys, head on over to Kid Robot and check out all of their goodies. Though they weren't the first to create so-called Urban Vinyl or art toys, the Kid Robot Munny is probably one of the most popular and well known platform toys. They are super cute and a lot of fun to customize.

I'm seeing a lot of knock off vinyl blanks in craft stores these days so I suspect that the scene is not as indy or underground as it once was. But really, I'm all for more customs. If someone can find an affordable vinyl blank at their local craft store, that's just as awesome as someone who works on a Munny or a Qee or whatever platform they can find. After all, no one gives a shit if a painter is using a store bought canvas or hand stretched canvas or plywood. It's the art that's on the thing that matters.

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
