I consider myself to be very much a newcomer to the cartooning game. I've met a number of my cartooning and illustration heroes and what surprises me the most is that they have the same concerns and fears that I do. These are people who've had great success in their careers, yet to hear them talk, you'd think that they were just starting out fresh. It's somehow comforting to hear.
MOUSE OVER
"Giant Robot anime, the great ice breaker."

PANEL 1
No dialog. Exterior of SPAGHETTI & NOODLES.

PANEL 2
Interior. TARA and KANE eating noodles.
TARA: How was your lunch date with ANNA?
KANE: I can't believe I didn't puke in my mouth.

PANEL 3
TARA twirls her noodles and raises an eyebrow.
TARA: Were you reall that nervous?
KANE: At first. But when she said she was a big KAHUNA BOT fan, I calmed down.

PANEL 4
KANE regards his meatball.
KANE: She's really cool. You know what's funny? I've always considered her to be this big successful artists. Someone who's made it.

PANEL 5
ANNA working on a canvas.
KANE: Caption. But she doesn't see herself like that at all. She's still got that hunger that I've always associated with newcomers. She keeps pushing and making moves.

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
