Ah yes, overasiachievement. The act of going above and beyond to impress a girl who is dating someone more awesome than you. You don't actually have to be Asian to do this sort of thing which kind of defeats any chance this word had of going viral. But the secret truth about us Asians is that we like to make fun of each other's Asianess when we're together. It gets more derogatory the more drunk we get. It's all in good fun and no one really cares.

Unless you're not Asian.

The weird thing is if someone not Asian is privy to such Asian bashing and decides to jump in, it can get really awkward. Now if you're really really reaaaaaaaally good friends with someone in that Asian bashing session, you might be able to get away with it. Maybe.

Derogatory jokes can be funny. But they can also be hurtful. Unfortunately, there's no real gauge for non-minorities to know when it's okay and when it's totally over the line. The real ugly and completely unfair thing about all this is that it's seemingly always okay to make fun of White people regardless of who's around. No one ever loses a job for making fun of White people.

Wow, didn't mean to get all deep there. So yeah, overasiachievement is a silly I word I just made up because it sounded like something Lance would say in the comfort of Kane's room.

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
