Man, I kind of want that record cover as a poster.  I should fucking do that at some point!

ASK THE CAST

Still taking "Ask the Cast" submissions.  Just leave a question for a character in the comments.  I'll pick out the ones they have some fun answers to and queue them up to post all next week.

MOUSE OVER

Ah, Wikipedia, the true measure of a band's worth.

PANEL 1

Lance and Kane sitting on the couch.

LANCE

Metal isn't my thing, but I love their sound. Why haven't we heard of them?

KANE

Can't find anything on Wikipedia. Oh, here's some obscure fan site.

PANEL 2

Flashback. We see a dingy club scene. There's a band rocking hard on stage with a tilted banner behind them that reads "Apocalypse Belles."

KANE (Caption)

HAH! Fucking Geocities! Okay, from this, it says that Apocalypse Belles got their start in the early 70s DC underground club scene.

PANEL 3

The Apocalypse Belles cover art.  It's four skulls each representing a member of the band.  In the center is a stylized lightning bolt with the name of the band.

KANE (Caption)

Their first and only album was cobbled together from live recordings and raw 4-track demos.

PANEL 4

Bella Donna pleads with a DJ holding a copy of the record.  The DJ is brushing her off.  Her bandmates stand in the background.

KANE (Caption)

The release gained a substantial cult following, but they never got any mainstream airplay. DJs just didn't believe four black ladies could rock so hard.

PANEL 5

The band walk silently in an alleyway.  In the foreground, we see a trashcan with a bass guitar and some clothing items. It's a version of that "Spider-Man No More" panel.

KANE (Caption)

Apocalypse Belles broke up in January of 1975. The band members went on to explore solo careers across various genres, but they never returned to metal.

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
