I guess it's good practice in general, but if you're starting a business, keep track of them receipts. I think you get to claim a percentage of your foods if they're business related so always be sure to talk about work when you're hanging out with friends.

Also, never take tax advice from a web cartoonist who has absolutely no financial background whatsoever.

MOUSE OVER

Business cards, the truest sign of going legit.

PANEL 1

Bodie gestures like Buddha as Kane sits on the couch and opens a Coke.

ALLY

Cards are ordered. This is starting to feel legit.

BODIE

So you're doing art for a show that doesn't exist? How very zen.

PANEL 2

Kane rubs his neck as Bodie sits down, somewhat off panel.

KANE

Something like that. I got to hang out with Anna Weiss a few days ago. She challenged me to exhibit my work when she comes back in a month.

PANEL 3

Kane takes a drink while Bodie gestures.

BODIE

I don't know any of the galleries around here, but I have a friend who works at a bar. maybe we could host a regenem happy hour, show off your stuff, and maybe drum up some work.

KANE

People do that?

PANEL 4

Ally flails about as Bodie looks worried.

ALLY

We get to write off beer as a BUSINESS EXPENSE!

BODIE

uh...

Everyone is an artist until some "adult" fucks it up

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
