It's In The Shoes

Just like any other sport, shoes are an essential tool for the climber. They fit tightly around your foot and compress your toes so that you can put all your weight on small edges. The advances in shoe rubber give climbers the extra friction they need to push off small surfaces. And the shits look freaking cool.

It took a few good sessions, but my feet eventually got used to the snug fit of the climbing shoes. My shoe of choice is the Five Ten Anasazi which really isn't much of an endorsement since I've only tried one other pair of shoes. I picked them because they looked cool. I'd love to throw some wacky ass designs on climbing shoes because I love the way they look.

So yeah, climbing shoes. Lots of fun. Not terribly useful for anything but climbing.

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
