STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, yeah, when this comic posts, I'll be driving home from a late Thursday night screening of The Force Awakens. No idea what it's going to be like, but I'm super excited. I'm especially excited to see BB8 on the big screen! I'm a sucker for cute robots.

I remember getting this excited for Episode I: The Phantom Plot. Two years before, the special editions of the original trilogy were shown in theaters. I was still in college at the time and it was the first time I had seen any of the films on the big screen save for Jedi (don't remember much, but I remember seeing it in the theater with my parents). And though some of the changes were stupid, seeing the original trilogy on the big screen brought on a huge wave of nerdy nostalgia for me. So when it was announced that the prequels were coming, I just about lost my damn mind.

We hit up the midnight showing of Episode at newly opened Potomac Yards theater over near Crystal City. It was a fairly new complex and apparently not well known because we were like eighth in line at about 10pm. Arch Campbell was there to interview people and what do you know, I got on the tele for a few seconds to gush about what Star Wars meant to me.

We were so fucking excited. The doors opened. We rushed to get our seats. The lights dimmed. And BAM! The crawl hit with those horns! FUCK YES!

Two hours and sixteen minutes later, I looked over at my brother and said, "What the fuck?" Man, what a fucking let down. We were still a little giddy from no sleep and too much caffeine. But our nerd glow couldn't blot out the mess that we just saw. Still, for Episodes II and III, we returned to Potomac Yards and their midnight showings because as bad as they were, there were still Star Wars. And to be honest, I just fucking love going to midnight showings.

I'm stupid excited to see this new one. And I'm really looking forward to being completely irresponsible and maybe taking Hazel with us when Episode IX when it finally drops in 2019.

Please, NO SPOILERS in the comments. Talking about it in general terms is perfectly fine, but please keep details out of any discussion.

This video is sort of a subtweet about some art twitter discourse. But I wanted to respond in video form rather than in written form so that you wouldn't misinterpret my words. Also not linking the discourse directly because I don't want to dogpile on the inspiration for my thoughts. But here are three ideas that I wanted to share with artists for us to keep in our brains as we go into the new year.
